Caliburn A2 Pod System Review - Specs, Battery Life & Coils

Over the years, UWELL has slowly become one of the top brands you can find in the vaping industry, and this is due to the release of its extremely convenient and reliable devices. Since they released the original Caliburn pod system, which is still a best-selling pod vape device on the market, they have become more and more popular and continue to grow and dominate the pod system market.

Since the release of the original Caliburn several years ago, UWELL has continued to release more pod kits in the Caliburn range, such as the Caliburn KOKO and the Caliburn G pod systems, and they have now released their latest product entitled the UWELL Caliburn A2 pod device.

Since the release of the UWELL Caliburn A2 pod kit, they have become a top-rated product thanks to their reliability, ease of use, and hassle-free approach to vaping.

In this article, we shall go in depth about the UWELL Caliburn A2 and its specs and features.

What To Expect From The Caliburn A2?

Whether you are new to vaping or an experienced vaper, the Caliburn A2 will be an ideal vape kit for anyone trying to switch from smoking traditional cigarettes to vaping or someone who already uses a vape but would like something smaller and discreet.

You can expect a day's battery life from the Caliburn A2 as well as between 7-14 days' worth of use from the pod.

Caliburn A2 Pod System Performance.

The UWELL Caliburn A2 houses a 520mAh battery and will deliver a fixed output wattage of 15 watts which is enough battery life to last roughly a full day depending on how frequently you vape. The power output of 15 watts is also more than capable enough to give you a significant amount of cloud production and a full, flavourful vaping experience.

As it currently stands, only one pod can be used inside the UWELL Caliburn A2, which is the Caliburn A2 0.9 ohm meshed - FeCrAl H UN2 pod. The UWELL Caliburn A2 pods are suitable for almost all types of juice, but it has been found to perform best using nicotine salt e-liquids or juices containing 50% Vegetable Glycerin and 50% Propylene Glycol.

It is also essential to remember that juices with a high VG ratio can potentially burn out the pod at a much faster rate, resulting in you needing to replace the entire pod much faster than if you were to use a higher PG-based liquid.

The Caliburn A2 features an auto-draw activation system that does not require you to press the fire button to begin vaping; inhale, and the vapour will be produced. However, you can still use the fire button to activate the vape, just like most traditional vape kits.

The Caliburn A2 also features a USB type C port on the base of the device that can be used for fast charging when using it in unison with a 1A charger. It is possible to go from 0% to 90% within 30-40 minutes when using the fast-charging cable correctly, which is also a key reason why the Caliburn A2 has become so popular amongst vapers.

Caliburn A2 Design & Appearance.

The UWELL Caliburn A2 is a small, thin, almost pen-shaped device that can easily fit in the palm of your hand and is surprisingly light in weight, weighing a minor 33 grams, similar in weight to most of the disposable vapes on the market today.

Dimensions: 110mm X 21mm X 11mm

Caliburn A2 Battery & Body.

The Caliburn A2 refillable pod system houses a very similar design to that of the original Caliburn, other than the fact that the Caliburn A2 has a much more smooth and sleek design with its rounded edges compared to the sharper, block-like edged finish that is on the original Caliburn.

The Caliburn A2 is a small, almost pen-shaped device that can easily fit in the palm of a user's hand. Due to its small size, it is straightforward to store the Caliburn A2 in a pocket, a bag, or even a purse.

The Caliburn A2 is made from an aluminium alloy body that comes with a smooth, metallic finish that is very comfortable to hold. This device is available in 8 different colours: Black, Blue, Green, Grey, Iris Purple, Orange, Aqua Blue, and Black/Gold.

The front of the Caliburn A2 has a small and round fire button; this allows for manual vaping when pressed. What's also great about the Caliburn A2 is that it also features an auto-inhale activation system, meaning you can produce vapour by just inhaling on the device without pressing the fire button.

The LED battery light indicator, which lights up when both are inhaling and charging, sits at the bottom of the device, underneath the fire button and Caliburn logo.

LED Light Indicators.

The Caliburn A2 will have 3 different colour indications on the LED light indicating the battery percentage (Green, Blue, and Red). These coloured LED indicators are also used to warn you of issues such as no atomizer and short circuits.

image explaining what the red, blue and green lights mean on the Caliburn A2

  • Battery indicator: Red = 0-30%, Blue = 30-60%, Green = 60-100%
  • Whilst charging: Red flash = 0/30%, Blue flash = 30-60%, Green flash = 60-90%, Green static = 100%

LED Light Protection.

  • Low battery - LED will flash red 10 times and will not fire.
  • Short circuit - LED will flash red 3 times.
  • No atomizer - LED will flash blue 3 times.
  • Overtime - LED will flash green 5 times if inhaled for longer than 8 seconds.

Caliburn A2 Pod.

The pod housed in the Caliburn A2 is a 2ml pod including a built-in 0.9 meshed - H UN2 coil inside. The Caliburn A2 pods have a very similar design to the original Caliburn pods other than a slightly smoother design with rounded edges.

The A2 pods also feature an e-liquid window so you can see your quantity of vape juice without the need to remove the pod or mouthpiece.

The mouthpiece of the A2 pods can be removed by pulling it off the pod, revealing the insert holes or the fill port for e-liquid to be added. It is important to avoid filling vape juice in the centre hole as this is the airflow hole.

The Caliburn A2 pods are more suited for an MTL style of vaping, but these pods are more than capable of performing like a DTL vape to produce a thicker cloud of vapour.

The UWELL Caliburn A2 pods are connected to the top of the battery using a magnetic connection, ensuring that your pod is fully connected before being able to fire up the device and begin vaping.

Caliburn A2 Pod System Ease Of Use.

Over the years, a majority of vaping devices have become much easier to use. Many brands are now trying to take a hassle-free approach to vaping, UWELL being one of them, and the Caliburn A2 is a prime example of them doing an amazing job of this.

A beginner or more experienced vaper can enjoy the Caliburn A2 thanks to its convenience and easy functionality.

To use the device itself, you press the fire button 5 times to turn the mod on or off, and you can also use this fire button to activate the vape, but this is unnecessary as the A2 features and auto draw activation system.

To fill the pods, you just need to remove the mouthpiece by pulling it off the pod, and then this will reveal the side hole that is used to insert the e-liquid, and the pods themselves will need disposing of and replacing when they have burnt out which avoids the hassle of changing coils.

To charge the Caliburn A2 device, you must first obtain a USB type C charging cable and then connect the charging cable to a computer/laptop/tv/games console or any similar device, or you can use the USB type C charging cable in a charger plug that is no higher than 1A.

  • Lightweight
  • Top Fill
  • Juice window to check juice level
  • Fast charging with USB type C
  • Durable build
  • No Leaking

Caliburn A2 Verdict.

The UWELL Caliburn A2 is a fantastic little device or starter kit that we think is suited for someone just getting into vaping or someone who would still class themselves as a beginner vaper. However, this device can still be very suitable for a more experienced vaper looking for something small and discreet but still capable of producing a fair amount of cloud and a strong flavour.

image of Caliburn A2 podThe pods used in the Caliburn A2 are amazing pods that can last between 7-14 days or more, depending on how frequently you vape and which type of vape juice you use in the pod. The only downside to these pods is that there is only one resistance pod available at this moment (0.9ohm).

The vaping experience found with the Caliburn A2 is significantly satisfying as it offers an MTL-style vape but is still capable of producing a thicker cloud to give the user that DTL-style vape sensation.

The build quality on the Caliburn A2 is outstanding; with its aluminium alloy body and metallic finish, it's very durable and reliable for everyday usage, but we did find that when using a Caliburn A2 over a long period, the paint can begin to chip off, but this does not affect the performance of the device.
