What Do Nicotine Shots Do?

What Do Nicotine Shots Do?

Nicotine shots, also known as Nic shots, are 10ml bottles of a VG-based solution containing nicotine that is added to both Vegetable Glycerin (VG) and Propylene Glycol (PG), which then forms a vape juice containing a nicotine strength depending on the amount of nicotine that has been added. Nicotine shots can also be found in a nicotine salt form, allowing the user to use higher nicotine strengths such as 10mg and 20mg.

Nicotine shots are most commonly used by adding them to a short-fill bottle of e-liquid. When you purchase a short-fill bottle, it will contain 0mg of nicotine due to TPD regulations that came into force several years back that prohibit any juice containing nicotine to be no larger volume than 10ml. This is where nicotine shots are added.

Adding 1x 18mg nicotine shot to the 0mg 50ml bottle of juice will give you 3mg, and adding 2x will provide you with 6mg, and this works the same with higher volumes of liquid; for example, if you add 1x nicotine shot to a 100ml bottle of 0mg juice, this will give you a strength of 1.5mg, and if you were to add 2x nicotine shots, this would result in a strength of 3mg.

Does Nicotine Add Flavour?

Nicotine does not add flavour to vape juice. Still, the addition of nicotine has been found sometimes to feel like a flavour is intensified due to the throat hit it provides. Still, nicotine, on most occasions, can and will have a mild flavour change to the juice as it naturally carries a slightly bitter, peppery flavour, which can dull the flavour of vape juice very mildly but will not add flavour.

At very high nicotine concentrates, such as 20mg, which is found in nicotine salt shots, this can alter the flavour of your vape juice slightly due to the higher nicotine concentration carrying more nicotine and naturally having a somewhat stronger, bitter, peppery taste to it.

How Do You Take Nicotine Shots?

You take nicotine shots by adding the 10ml bottle of nicotine and adding it to a short-fill bottle of liquid, usually around 50ml or 100ml. You add the nicotine shot to the vape juice containing no nicotine to give you the desired strength you are looking for. On average, most short-fill bottles can hold enough nicotine to give you a strength of at least 3mg and 6mg.

To add a nicotine shot to your vape juice, you must remove the cap and the pouring nozzle from the e-liquid, open up the nicotine shot and then add the desired amount of nicotine shots into the e-liquid.

When the nicotine has been added, you will then need to shake it well, so it mixes correctly, and it is advised to let it sit for a few minutes to ensure that it has adequately mixed; after this has been done, you can add the juice to a device and begin to vape.
