How Long Do Vape Coils Last?

How long do vape coils last?

A vape coil should last approximately 14 days. However, this can range between 7 to 21 days. Many factors can affect the lifespan, including the type of coil, its materials, the vape juice, and vaper-using habits. There are specific measures one can take to ensure the life span of the coil is prolonged.

Sub Ohm Coils

Sub-ohm replacement vape coils are coils where their resistance is below 1 ohm. These are best used with more powerful devices and thicker vape juice such as shortfills where the VGPG ratio is 70/30 (i.e. a higher VG content).

Due to the nature of the vape juice being more viscous, it is possible that the coil heads may not last as long as coils where the resistance is greater than 1 ohm.

Pod Systems

Most pod systems have their coil built into their tank (or pod), hence pod systems. When the coil has come to the end of its life, both the pod and coil must be replaced. Pod system coils tend to have a coil resistance greater than 1 ohm. You will find that these may live a little bit longer than sub-ohm tanks.
Due to the low power nature of pod systems, these are designed to be used with nicotine salts or TPD10mls, where the VGPG ratio is 5050. As these e-liquids are less viscous than shortfalls, they tend to last longer than sub-ohm coils.

What vape coils last the longest?

The longest-lasting coils are known to be the FreeMax Mesh Pro coils. Other long-lasting coils are Uwell Valyrian, HorizonTech Falcon M2, SMOK TFV8 Baby V2A3, and Aspire Odan 0.2 ohm coils.
The FreeMax Mesh Pro coils are compatible with only the M PRO 2 Tank, and this tank comes readily equipped with the Freemax MAXUS 200w kit.

The Uwell Valyrian coils are only compatible with the Valyrian Tank. It comes in 2 different resistances, which are 0.15 ohm and 0.18 ohm. The HorizonTech Falcon M2 coils are compatible with any of the Falcon tanks. The SMOK TFV8 baby coils are compatible with the baby tank. The Odan coils are compatible with the Odan tank.

Can vape coils last forever?

No coils cannot last forever but should last anywhere between one to two weeks. E-liquids tend to leave a thin layer of vape juice residue on the coil. Over time, the residue builds up around the coil and wicking material, resulting in the coil clogging up and being unable to provide a smooth inhale.

How do I prolong the life of my coil?

Should you find that your coil is not lasting on average 14 days, there are a few practices you as a vaper can do to ensure you get the most out of your coil such as:

  • Try a 5050 VGPG liquid such as a TPD10ml or Nicotine Salt.
  • Never let your device fire on empty or low vape juice.
  • If you are using a pod system, try mouth to lung vaping (similar to inhaling of a cigarette first to your mouth and then to your lung)
  • Boil your vape coil. This is only a temporary fix. Remember that vape coils are designed to be replaced every so often.

Can I get a dud coil?

Yes, it is possible to get dud coils in a pack. Although it is rare to receive malfunctioning coils from the manufacturer, it is possible. There isn't much one can do about this other than throw it away and try another.
