The IndeJuice Nicotine Shot Calculator is the best
. It was created back in 2017 before the Tobacco Products Directive (‘TPD’) came into full force on 21 May 2017. It was created with one purpose – to make the transition to nicotine shots much easier for the general consumer.
Prior to the TPD, you could buy vape juices with pre-mixed nicotine right off the shelves with pretty much any nicotine concentration. This is because the vape industry was unregulated and did not have any rules concerning nicotine-containing liquids.
Since the TPD, UK e-Juice manufactures are now obliged to test all nicotine-containing liquids and are limited to a 20mg maximum nicotine concentration.
As testing is extremely expensive on a per flavour basis, UK e-Liquid manufactures chose to develop their vape juices without nicotine. These juices are supplemented with small nicotine shots that only need to be tested once and can be mixed with the zero nicotine juices to achieve the desired nicotine strength.
In order to figure out how much of the nicotine shot you need to use to achieve your desired nicotine strength, you will have to use the best nicotine shot calculator.
Step 1 – Enter Volume of Zero Nicotine Juice
In this first box you should enter the volume of the flavoured zero nicotine e-Juice you are holding. This volume is most commonly 50ml or 100ml.
These bottles are referred to as short-fills as they will contain 50ml or 100ml of vape juice in a 60ml or 120ml sized bottle respectively. The space that is remaining in the bottle is where the additional juice will go from your nicotine shot.
Step 2 – Enter Strength of Nicotine Shot
In order to be able to calculate the amount of the nicotine shot that you will be required to add to your e-Juice, you must state your current nicotine concentration so that the calculator can calculate the amount by which it needs to be diluted in order to achieve your desired nicotine strength.
The most common nicotine shot strengths are 18mg and 20mg. You will be able to see what strength your nicotine shot is by looking at the bottle label.
Step 3 – Enter Final Desired Nicotine Strength
This is the nicotine strength that you would like to end up with once the nicotine shot has been mixed with the zero nicotine vape juice.
The most common final strengths are 1.5mg, 3mg or 6mg. As you will be diluting the flavoured nicotine with each millilitre of additional nicotine shot, it is highly unlikely that you will be able to achieve a strength higher than 6mg through the nicotine shot method.
For strengths higher than 6mg, you should consider shopping for either regular 10ml bottles or 10ml nicotine salts that are premixed with nicotine all the way up to 20mg.
